Relaxing on the couch with a cup of tea and a good book is one of my very favorite things to do. Unfortunately, I almost never get the chance to indulge. Recently, due to a minor surgery, I am on sick leave and have been trying to put my time away from the office to good use. (I generally start four books or more at the same time and never have time to finish any of them. Anyone else have the same problem?)
However, I just successfully finished reading Bossypants by Tina Fey last night. I have always been a big fan of hers and a faithful follower of Saturday Night Live. (I was actually lucky enough to win tickets to a 2 hour SNL Dress Rehearsal in September 2009; Katie Couric/Sarah Palin sketch episode – more on that later!) She is a very clever writer and the book’s collections of short stories unfold her awkward upbringing to detailing her more recent emergence of household name status. I was literally laughing out loud – in coffee shops, on my couch, at the doctor’s office, etc. She honestly recounts the difficulties and stress of trying to juggle her family, her rising career (SNL & 30 Rock), and becoming Sarah Palin.
I could not recommend this book more. It is an easy read and perfect for even the most hectic schedules. Whenever you have free time, you can pick up and read each short anecdote as you have time. You can get it here: http://www.amazon.com/Bossypants-Tina-Fey/dp/0316056863
